Building a new home can be an overwhelming experience without the help of professional representatives to help you every step of the way. The steps below will help you understand the process.

1. Contact us for a visit to our model home. You will see for yourself the high quality of a Kuhns Bros. log home. The kiln-dried logs and No-shop package will convince you to begin planning.

2. Visit the Kuhns Bros design website, www.loghomedesigncenter.com, to get design ideas from over 300 different log homes. You can also get log home plan books and related information from your local Kuhns Bros. sales representative.

3. It is time for a second visit with us to determine how much house you can afford and how financing might occur. We will also look at your floor plan designs and begin the process of getting free price estimates from Kuhns Bros.

4. Begin contacting the finance company of your choice. You will want to inquire about construction loans. See our financing page for companies who regularly finance log homes. This can probably be done over the phone.

5. An official estimate from Kuhns Bros. takes about one week and is absolutely free! Even though we offer the most complete log home package, we can customize the package to fit your needs.

6. When the design is complete, it is time to place a $3000 deposit. This deposit will freeze the price of your log home package for one year and will signal the engineers at Kuhns Bros. to begin drawing the blueprints of your home.

7. Is your loan application being processed? The first set of blueprints is ready to be reviewed. If there are no changes, you may sign the blueprints signaling the drafting department to begin the final construction blueprints. This will take five to six weeks. It is also time to choose a builder for your home if necessary.

8. Contact your finance company to inform them of your progress. Eight weeks prior to delivery a 20% deposit will be required. The finance company will need to be aware of the delivery date when the balance is due.

9. Prepare your building site for the logs to be delivered and for building to begin. There will be permits required and the foundation can be completed. Notify Kuhns Bros. to prepare your package for delivery.

10. The day you have been waiting for is here! We will be there with you as logs are delivered and the package is inventoried. You will need a certified check from your finance company before the unloading begins.
